To our Customers

There is one topic in particular which many people have been talking about over the last couple of weeks, which is the number of illnesses that seem to be related to vaping and e-cigarettes. I just wanted to get in touch to tell you what the coverage is all about.

Scientists have isolated one additive in particular which has been found in certain unregulated vaping liquids that many are saying could be to blame: Vitamin E Acetate. On September 5th 2019, the United States FDA announced it had analysed 18 cannabis vaping products, 10 of which contained Vitamin E Acetate, which have been directly linked to the lung disease outbreak in the US.

What exactly is Vitamin E Acetate?

Vitamin E Acetate, otherwise known as tocopheryl acetate, is a thickening additive usually found in dermatological products such as balms and skin creams that is said to have beneficial antioxidant effects. It can also be found in some food supplements related to dieting, meaning ingesting it is not considered harmful.

However, some scientists have claimed that due to its molecular structure, Vitamin E Acetate could be deemed hazardous when inhaled, causing doubt among the vaping community. Although this is a common element found in some e-liquid samples across the United States, scientists still say it is too early to tell if it is the main cause.

At Direct2uecigs, we do not use Vitamin E Acetate in any of our  liquids. We use a mixture of PG, VG as well as flavourings, none of which contain this vitamin
